Instrument Rating

Snow-covered mountains and clouds under a clear blue sky

What is an instrument rating?

Acquiring your instrument rating unlocks a whole new set of opportunities, allowing you to file and fly an flight under instrument flight rules (IFR). Flying IFR is how you can finally fly through those awesome looking clouds. You will also learn more about flying and navigating safely, only increasing your ability as a pilot

What is required of me?

To obtain your instrument rating, you will be required to take a written test and a checkride, including the oral and practical portions. I will train you and teach you all you need to know to pass those with confidence

How long will it take?

Most students take about 2 months to complete their instrument training. It could take longer or shorter based on personal needs, weather, and aircraft maintenance
